John Luker is the owner of Town & Country Taxis and has lived in the area all his life. I established Town & Country Taxis and Tours in 1999 I am always pleased to help tourists, visitors and locals alike. village of Ilmington down to the Roman City of Bath.
There are numerous market towns some we have covered in more detail below, others
include: Painswick, Cirencester, Burford, Bibury, Winchcombe, Stroud, Cirencester, Malmesbury, all with their very own distinctive history and their
fair share of historic buildings. The Market Hall in Chipping Campden, Arlington Row in Bibury and the Abbey at Malmesbury, to name just a few
Pretty villages and hamlets set in the valleys of these rolling hills: Bourton-on-the-Water with it's Model Village and Birdland, Chipping Campden -
ancient Northern Cotswold Wool Town, and many many more. Chipping Campden
The old wool market town with one of the most beautiful High Street left in the UK, including a Market Hall dating back to the 11th century.
This historic town is one of the few unspoilt by time. The main street curves proudly displaying its' historic buildings and is a must for visitors to the area. There are a number of interesting shops, tea shops and restaurants, other treasures include the Ernest Wilson Memorial Garden reflecting the work of Campden Botanist Ernest Wilson and of course the panoramic views from Dovers Hill. | |||||||||||||||

Stow on the Wold
Stow-on-the-Wold - "..where the wind blows cold...", standing 700 feet above sea level this is indeed the case. This delightful and probably best
known North Cotswold Market Town has an enormous market square, once home to massive annual fairs, where up to 20,000 livestock may have been traded. |

Bourton on the Water
This beautiful Cotswold village is characterised by the river and the numerous low bridges over it. The River Windrush runs right through the middle of town providing a unique setting for the pubs, restaurants, shops and tea rooms.
The town can trace its' origins back through to Saxon and Roman times, although the oldest houses in the village date back to the 17th century. |

Shakespeare's Stratford for the Visitor
Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace and one time home of William Shakespeare has much to offer the tourist and visitor.
![]() There are 5 Shakespeare Properties to visit three in the town, Shakespeare's Birthplace, Nash's House and Hall's Croft and two slightly out of town, at Anne Hathaway's Cottage at Shottery and Mary Arden's House at Wilmcote. In addition to these you can visit, the RSC Theatre, Bancroft Gardens, take a trip on the River Avon, visit the Butterfly Farm. or simply browse amongst the huge choice of shops and restaurants. | |||||||||||||||
